I was surprised by the C class fare YVR - TPE RT, CAN $ 3,000.00. Quite good, compared with everything else going to Asia.
I am aware that BR C class is nothing to write home about but still not to bad.

I went through these issues recently too. I also seemed to find that if booking through EVA in economy, then they would automatically put you in their Economy Deluxe.

But we were looking at C class (or upgrade). One revenue plus one Aeroplan. Given that the EVA C-class on their 747s is not great, that the Aeroplan reward on that flight would have been a pure AC at 115 k miles, vs. 100 k for a Star reward, and that I could get a confirmed upgrade on an M fare on AC flights for about $2400 with all taxes including the AC fuel tax, we ended up getting tickets going through HKG on the way there and ICN on the way back. A bit longer but we'll sleep better and it's quite a bit cheaper.
