DC-10 gear retraction problem at MSP 9/25
About 12:15 this afternoon, I was coming out of MicroCenter in St. Louis Park. (This location is about 7.5 miles from the parallel runways at MSP.) I heard a plane flying overhead, and looked up. I saw a Northwest DC-10, apparently having a gear retraction problem. All gear were retracted, and gear doors closed except for the secondary 2-wheel fuselage-center bogey. (This is the one that is on DC10-30 and 40 series due to their higher gross weight, but absent from the DC10-10s). It appeared to remain fully deployed.
In looking at the NWA.com flight status section, based on timing I assume this was NW99 bound for Honolulu. It shows "Diversion/delay due to mechanical problem."
Anybody know anything more about this?
