This is by far my biggest frustraton with Amtrak's Business Class. On trains equipped with the 2 x 1 seating, business class is absolutely worth the reasonable premium fare. On trains with the 2 x 2 seating, though, you're basically paying $25 or so for an 8-ounce soda. Problem is, there's no way to know which Business Class car will operate on a given train on a given day, meaning that buying the Business Class upgrade is a crapshoot.
