I would recommend Biga(s). On the river, but not really in the touris zone. Best restaurant downtown besides the chains (Mortons/Ruth Chris/The Palm).

For steaks, there is also Bohanans, besides the above named.

Eat at one of these restaurants and then bar hop along the river back to your hotel. It is safe to walk around downtown and there are a lot of bicycle police.
