Having just returned from our (fabulous) honeymoon, I wanted to thank everyone here for their kind advice. We had lunch at Taillevent, le Cinq (and stayed at the hotel) and Gagnaire.
We both agreed that Gagnaire's food was by far the most adventurous and exciting, Taillevent was the most romantic experience with stunning food and the best service (with the owner/manager coming to our table at 16:00 when everyone had left, with a bottle of their house cognac to chat with us), and Le Cinq for the prettiest ambience. Food-wise Le Cinq definitely came last, although its menu was also the cheapest (E70, versus E95 for Gagnaire - a steal -, and E140 for Taillevent).

I'm so jealous. Please give us your thoughts on staying at Georges V. I can only imagine that it was outstanding. Next time you're in Paris go to Le Pre Catelan. It's in the Bois de Boulogne. It's heaven. The chef just got his 2 star and it's a beautiful place. Also, my son raves about Le Grand Vefour.
