I have been flying KLM for 90% of all the flights I made the last 3 years (over 250 flights) and I have never had any problems so far with KLM. Lost my luggage only once (flying to MAD)and even that was brought to my hotel only 6 hours after.
In some comments I can read that people do have more problems with nationality in general then with KLM itself. Let's pretend I do have problems with the arrogant attitude of the americans and french, does that mean Air France and US Airways FI are bad airlines ?
KLM is one of the oldest, if not the oldest airline in the world. If their service is really that bad I am sure they wouldn't exist anymore.
It is pretty easy to complaint all the time, but as long as you are still flying KLM there must be something which is attractive to fly KLM, and telling me that KLM is the only airlines which can bring you from A to B does not count....</font>
I have some sympathy for what you write, but I am often ashamed to be a Dutchman when I see the incompetence, laziness and arrogance of some KLM employees. Service on flights can be wonderful to absolutely terrible (no consistency whatsoever), the FD helpdesk is a joke, check-in lines at Schiphol for economy class passengers are often ridiculously long. (my colleague missed a flight because he was queueing for more than 1 1/2 hours to check-in). I fly KLM a lot, and often on other airlines too, but KLM is definitely worse now than most other European national carriers.
