I'm not surprised. When I departed 10 days ago, the FAs (at least on my flight) were schlepping duty-free alcohol purchases to the passenger's seats, after boarding.
The FAs were carrying the bottles in clear plastic bags. I'm sure that the FAs didn't want to be involved in this task, and I wonder how the bottles were stowed by the passengers (especially in Y), so as not to create a problem with breakage.
I'm only used to seeing duty-free purchases waiting for pickup just before the jetbridge.
