Many cheaper fares no longer allow free stopovers. So a stopover would increase the cost.
To fly via london, the possibilities are
Air India
Virgin Atlantic
Kuwait Airlines
Gulf Airways
Not sure about Emirates
BA
AA/BA.
BA does not give 100% miles on cheaper tickets.
