With airlines still loosing money, are pilots being paid too much?
All the reports coming out state the airlines are still loosing large amounts of money and unless they can turn things around there will be some major changes within the industry.
Labor seems to be one of the top expenses and I can't help but think Pilots are being overpaid for what they do. I realize that the pilot is in charge of some very expensive equipment and all lives on board but so are air traffic controlers and mechanics. A top tier United pilot flying a 747 can earn upwards of $450,000 a year. A pilot flying a commuter airline might make $30,000 each year---does this make any sense? You entrust your life with both of these people. Do you feel that much safer flying with the 747 pilot?
