I received this form letter from Senator Cornyn today. I can assure you that the comments in my letter were not addressed -- as evidenced by the referral to the TSA site:

Thank you for contacting me about federal aviation security measures. I appreciate having the benefit of your comments on this matter.

As a result of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) increased screening procedures for all airline passengers. These enhanced security measures were necessary as the federal government redoubled efforts to safeguard the nation and those passing through America’s airports. As America continues to lead the War on Terror, we must be prepared to adapt to ever-changing threats against our homeland.

Over the past five years, stringent Department of Homeland Security and TSA standards have helped foil terrorist plots, including the most recent London-to-U.S. airline terror scheme. I understand your concerns regarding the effect post-September 11 aviation security regulations have had on passengers. I also recognize our need to ensure the safety of American travelers, and I will support initiatives that increase security without infringing upon the civil liberties of law-abiding citizens or impeding commerce or travel.

You may be certain that I will keep your concerns in mind should relevant legislation be considered by the Senate. If you are planning air travel, you may obtain a comprehensive list of security procedures and prohibited items at the TSA website, www.tsa.gov.

I appreciate having the opportunity to represent you in the United States Senate. Thank you for taking the time to contact me.

Sincerely,

JOHN CORNYN
United States Senator
