Confounded by fare construction (again)

This morn I was trying to book a r/t DEN-SFO-FRA on the bomb. ITA was giving a price of $1395 all-in, but the bomb put it at $1580. The reason: the first leg, DEN-SFO, was booking into Q on the bomb, making it significantly more expensive than the ITA-generated fare that used W on the first hop.

Ok, so I've seen this before. ITA sees inventory, and even calling UA they say the inventory is not there. Fare construction is so complicated these days, I know... married segments I thought... probably.

But I had dummy booked this on the bomb last night for the cheap price... so maybe W dried up overnight? I've certainly seen this happen before. Dang!

I of course tried 5 times on the bomb and kept getting the higher price. Then, without warning, W came back and I ticketed at $1395.

Do you think this is really IM madness (for Jan 2007!), or is this bomb quirkiness again?

I really want to make a script that just reprices on the bomb 500 times a day until the price is what ITA says it should be.
