Apologies for the typo. I was looking at "31 miles" on Mapquest but didn't notice the effect of fat fingers. But that also said that STN is something like 48.4 miles by road. I suppose one could cut that down a bit by going through central London, A13, A406, M11 rather than taking the A41, A1, M25, M11 route it chose.
