as much as i agree that the wines in FC and BF are terrible, you have to look at things from CO's perspective. not only with wine but on many things.
they are not going to sell any more seats b/c they serve better wine. if they do its going to be so marginal based on the 100's of 1000's of passengers they carry per year.
same goes for the ever lasting "BF is a tired product" arguement. CO is making money on the product that they offer. they are not going to dramatically change it until they see a significant drop in revenue. its not always "keeping up with the jones"' in the airline business. its make money with what you have.
is it tired? yes. mainly, b/c it was the first of its kind and has been copied by many. they were the "jones'" at one time. is it still an extremely profitable product for them? yes. so until we all stop flying them, its going to stay the same.
on a side note....i will say that they dropped the ball in revamping the 777's and only improving the seats as little as they did (an no improvment to the PTV's). I really dont concider the upgarde to the 777's much of anything. its not flat, you still have to climb over your neighbor and they still have the POS PTV system. they could have spent a little more $$$ and really improved the 777 experience.
again, the wine. I doubt any of us would stop flying any airline simiply because of subpar wines. if that should, by some chance, happen and CO were to see a dramatic fall in sales b/c of it, im sure they'd make the change.
they have cut back on the level of meal service in all classes post 9/11. did we stop flying? no. its simply economics. they want to give a good product at a good value and i think they do (again, the wine sucks).
so in my opinion, the 767's, 777's and 752's are here to stay the way they are config'd (new AVOD aside) until they retire.
we will see a new product on the 787, but i do not think it will be rolled out onto any 767's or 752's, but possibly years later on the 777's after the newly enhanced product is due for an update. and just possibly on the handful of 764's that are still around.
just my, 10 paragraph, two cents
