The owners of the Sheraton properties are considering replacing the diamondhead wing of the Sheraton Moana Surfrider with a new hotel and tearing down part of the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani Hotel to make way for a new time-share tower.
I wish they would have considered it sooner. If it happens, it sounds like just as the Waikiki Walk construction mess will
finally clear away...these new projects could start up. Waikiki could continue to be a construction nightmare for many years to come. Would have been nice if everyone got together so that these major projects could have been done at the same time, making for fewer years of mess.
From a property point-of-view...The Diamond Head Tower of the Moana will be no loss to me no matter what other hotel they build there. But I would miss the lower-priced option of the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani being gone.
