I thought charging the CC merchant fee back to the customer was illegal, or I always understood it was. I bought my VW Golf on a CC and they wanted to charge me the 2% also but I told them I didn't think it was kosher, so they relented. I did buy an extended warranty package to make them a little happier.

Lowest amount? Hmm, probably nothing like 11 cents, maybe a few dollars a few times at 7-11.
