Going via the official channel, you need to chase a lot, my experience says if the points are not deducted the upgrade has not been made. The system of crediting and debiting points is faster now than it has ever been.
I did an upgrade to Taipei in the lounge a couple of weeks ago and it was showing on my account a few days later
