Also from the standpoint of UA's own elites, it means there is more likelihood to be able to keep those centre seats free...too many STARGolds filling the E+ section means those seats get filled and so UA's elites are losing another benefit (when loads permit). So I'll enjoy E+ for the final time next week, while I am using some of those inflight free drink coupons UA also gives its elites.
Hey your right about UA having the right to give it's own elites whatever it wants but it still means that they will now take something away from many FF's and puts UA behind all the other *A airlines in seat selection for *G. I hope that UA FF's are similarly treated on all other *A airlines from now on - right to the back of the bus!

Oh and I hope UA enjoys all those empty seats.
