How much $$ to put the old 744's back?
So, with the 787/380 rumor dead...
If UA wanted to increase capacity (seems like they might need it with SFO-BOS taking a 763, and ORD-FRA taking a 744, and pulling the LAX/SFO-DEN late flights).
Anyway UA still has 4-10 744's in the desert (VCV) right? How much would it cost to bring one back (I trust at minimum it would need a D check)? and how long does it take to get one back in service?
Or why don't they buy back the 772's they sold to RG (seems like all they would need is the paint)? or at the very least lease the repo'ed one that is sitting at JFK?
Anyway, I am just curious if these are options, or am I just completely off (if I am off, please don't flame me).
