Just because there's only one option (I assume you mean the King room and hotel is in the US) doesn't mean the hotel won't give you two double beds. I ran into this all the time when I travel with kids. Usually I just call the hotel and there was hardly ever a problem of switching from King to two Doubles as the King rooms are more popular anyway.
