A computer that locks into "on course no matter what" mode? Are they nuts?

So take an A380 flying across the Atlantic LHR to JFK. There are 599 pax, all of them airline pilots. The pilot has a heart attack. Great, 599 spare pilots. Except the plane stays on course and flys right into that afternoon thunderstorm that popped up since they left LHR as none of the 599 pilots can fly the plane around it. Plane crashes.

Those who think technology can be more reliable than a person 100% of the time will always leave a loophole that will crash the plane. Count me out flying on one of these flying Air Busbombs. "Idiot proof" = idiot made.
