Admittedly I've never taken a taxi from my hotel to the airport but my experiences with AMS taxis is much much better than this. I have had problems though, generally one of two types. The first is getting a taxi from the rank at Schipol to the office where the driver doesn't know my destination and I can't help out, not speaking Dutch. Invariably they put the street name into their GPS system and as the street is about 4 km long they head to the wrong end. The two times this happened they knocked off the excess when we ultimately arrived - unbidden. Of course it doesn't happen any more because now I know the way and can direct them.

The second problem I have had is the drivers at the hotel rank also not knowing the office destination but the worst case was a fare normally being about €15 being €20. But these are extremely isolated instances.

Anyway, it's my guess that you'd be doing people a favour by naming the hotel you're referring too.
