Row 9 is the first row and an exit row. Can not keep luggage in front but definitely worth the five feet of leg room, with exception of the window seat which has partial obstruction from the door. If you happen to get stuck with only middle seats on a KLM flight (just happened this week AMS-JFK) then 9B is a good choice.
