I assume this means splitting the original booking into 2, and MFUing one booking and leaving the other as it is? Will BA do this, if you are all in a non-changeable (except for a fee) booking class? Or will they try and charge the change fee? Or will they refuse on the basis that there are insufficient reward seats for all passengers?
Cant respond to this specific issue, but I have had an award booking for 2 split, when I changed the dates for one and not the other. They just split it into two seprate PNR's. I can't see why that should not apply in your case, as it seems to be ticket numbers which are critical to what happens to be abooking. Its just an accident of fate whether or not they are on a single PNR (unless its an Amex 241 or the like).
