Not exactly OT but related for the return: Returning to the US, duty free is OK if delivered to the aircraft as well (in MOST airports, and I'd not bet on Charlie's De Gall right now ) - but one must place any liquids (perfume, alcohol, etc.) or gells (except < 5 oz for KY jelly) in checked luggage at the US POE if one is connecting.
