About jets to small HI airports: I seem to recall that HA ran DC9s even to Hana -- but can't confirm. I think I remember seeing one at the little Hana airport a long time ago. Anyone know?

Once AQ starts flying no doubt HA will as well.
Later on, when one decides to stop, the other will immediately follow.
