Now we have reverse snobbery.
For the last 4 years all my travel (except a couple of UK domestics) has been for pleasure. In that time I have achieved Gold twice by paying for one first class and one business class round the world tickets
out of my own pocket.
My other FIRST/CW flights have been thanks to BA miles (mostly generated by the RTWs) and Amex 2-4-1s.
Try not to make sweeping statements. There are many on this board who pay to fly F/J out of their own pockets, mostly taking advantage of cheap I class deals.
