I disagree. The harm is that if you check in, go to the gate in the hopes of a sticker upgrade, then I think you've foregone any chance at that kiosk upgrade mentioned above. I say go for the kiosk upgrade, if that isn't available, then try at the gate for a sticker, but chances are if they aren't selling the kiosk upgrades, they're also not going to bend the rules for a double-companion upgrade.
