I was reading on the Internet that most of the major Cruise Ships now allow people to make and receive calls on their Cellular Phones while on board. Great! When I go on my next cruise I can now carry on long phone conversations with my Mother in Minnesota while sitting at the pool complaining about my life for everyone to hear.

The article stated that there would be standard roaming charges. I have not paid for roaming for years. What are these charges and how do the phones work in the middle of the ocean?
