Is the small amount of explosive that goes "crack" enough to set off any detectors, when it's in a bag inside a sealed Samsonite Oyster case? Or maybe the TSA know the pattern crackers produce on the x-ray?

You would think that they would leave a note or something...

I took some to the US in handbaggage quite a few (10 maybe?) years ago - without knowing it might be a problem (I was very sweet and niaive...

). Got away with that, no trouble.
A year or two later, one of the questions at BA check-in prompted me to say that I had Christmas Crackers in my hand luggage. They told me that I couldn't do that, but could check them in. They produced a cardboard carton to put them in. that was fine.
Haven't done it since...
