The One & Only Reethi Rah is generally perceived to be the best (and one of the newest - only opened last year I think). Gallivanters Guide (the privately published hotel review newsletter) made it their 'property of the year' last year and said it sets a new global benchmark for beach resorts.
Look at the two Four Seasons properties - one new, one fully refurbished, both reopening imminently. They are offering cheap(er) rates as part of the reopening - I have seen ads in the UK press offering '4 nights for 3'.
If you look at the Readers Awards in the new issue of Conde Nast Traveller (UK edition), the Hilton Maldives comes out exceptionally well - you may want to get a price for that.
You may also want to contact some of 'high end' UK tour operators - Carrier, Latitude, Kuoni (World Class brochure), British Airways Holidays etc. They often have excellent package rates or special bonuses such as flight upgrades, since they know that they have to offer something special to stop people doing their own trips on the web.
