News time....

I still watch programs on 9/11 with a certain fascination. I spent many hours in the Trade Centre, both taking guests up to Windows on the World, and staying in the Marriott. The short trip from WTC to Exchange Plaza, a bit of work and then home on BA04.

I had finished in NYC a couple of years before and was on my way to a customer meeting in Amsterdam where I was currently working when I rang my mate who told me that a plane had crashed and, like everyone else, we just assumed it was a terrible accident. Then we got to the office, went downstairs to an electronics shop to watch the unfolding horror. I remember seeing the 2nd plane go in and wondering why everyone on the telly, on CNN, seemed to miss the fact that the 2nd tower was now alight. It must have taken them 5 mins to figure it out. How could you miss such a thing.

I wondered already if the towers were going to collapse and gave my American colleague a hug as we watched the first tower fall. We knew then life would be different, but most every generation has its challenges and no doubt will continue to do so
