Dangerous? At least those vehicles had proper seats and seat belts. I felt much less safe on the Honolulu city bus where we often had to stand in the aisle with the kids. And that was perfectly legal.

Yes there are much more dangerous things, but this not a reason not to use car seats. As at home the car seats are required until the kid is 12 years or bigger than 150 cm! You pay a hefty fine if they catch you.
I would never ever transport the most valuable good I have whith a propper car seat. We take it on every trip our car seat.
If you have an accident does a tintet window protect you child? Or do accidents do not happen with commercial vehicles?
