That's viable, though I would say barely. If we're going to have any *A feed into MNL from the USA, it needs to be through NRT, where UA has lots of flights. OZ from ICN means a SFO stop en route--extra segment for many of us--Even now, with OZ's service, the UA connection I see online is on JL via NRT. Staying on *A means an overnight in BKK or SIN. Big drag.
If NH would offer a daily flight departing MNL at about 6-7pm, it would be nice. Of course, United going in would be even nicer. Aren't there some 777s that overnight in NRT and have nothing better to do than do a MNL turn? Maybe not. But with United's big plans in Asia you'd think they'd want to establish a presence in Asian capitols they don't serve, like Manila.
Back in the mid-late 90s, United had "pending" plans to fly to Jakarta, via KIX I think it was. CGK is a cheap market, but I'd love to see United to expand their Asian destinations. Saigon was a great start!
