Additional local bus service to LGA
This past weekend, MTA Bus extended the run of its Q-72 bus to LGA on all trips. The Q-72 now operates between Queens Boulevard and Junction Boulevard/63rd Drive, Rego Park, and LGA. The trip should take about 25-30 minutes. The bus offers connections to the G, R, and V subways at the 63rd Drive station, and to the #7 subway at Junction Boulevard station. (The MTA website does not yet have the revised Q-72 timetables reflecting the extension of service on all trips. However, the according to a flyer posted on a Q-33 bus this weekend, the change took effect over Labor Day weekend.)
This service change will mostly benefit Queens residents living on or near Queens Boulevard in Rego Park/Forest Hills. For travelers going between LGA and Manhattan, the Q-33 to Roosevelt Avenue/Jackson Heights (E, F, G, R, V, and #7 subways), or the M-60 to Astoria or Harlem will almost always make for a faster commute. However, for travelers to or from Manhattan who need a kosher-deli fix, the Q-72 Rego Park terminus is directly across Queens Boulevard from Ben's Best, one of the best remaining kosher delis in the city.
