There is an uncanny dearth of information on this board about actually visiting Doha. Does anyone go there, or do they all pass through unles they live there?

I'm going to take advantage of QR's ludicrously cheap J flights from CPT to LON and wondered if it would be an idea to stop over in DOH. What does one do there apart from kick back in a resort? Are there decent beaches for swimming? I am a little familiar with Dubai, but somehow nobody seems to see DOH as a destination in quite the same way.

And what about Bahrain? (I might accumulate some BA tier points with a little DOH-BAH-DOH trip.) All the same questions come to mind.

Your advice will be much appreciated.
