I've never heard of a waitlist. You could always call and see what happens. the other possibility is to schedule your arrival one or two days before you really want to. See if that opens a room. As long as you don't have to prepay, call and move the arrival date to when you want it. I've had that work for me once or twice--before I was Diamond.
