I also just booked an itin for BOS, which consisted of 3 US East legs, and 1 US West leg. The 3 US East legs showed up on the confirmation as **, **, **, and the one US West leg showed the seat assignment I chose. I called the Gold line, and after the very friendly agent had me on hold for a long time, she told me that due to the conversion, "US East" is not recognizing the seat assignments, but US West is. She was able to confirm a one-way upgrade on the outbound (both US East), but she said she could not assign me my seats. She said to check back tomorrow or Monday.
Interestingly, the BOS-PHX leg is showing as US East metal, even though it is a US West route. I think I recall reading something about that on this board before, but just a friendly word of caution to double-check the metal before choosing seats. Hopefully my seat will still be available when this latest mess gets worked out!
I called back today, and was informed that the seat assignments for the US-East metal flights which I selected on-line did not "take." However, the agent was able to assign me seats. She also confirmed I was in the upgrade queue for the one leg for which I could not do a mileage upgrade, and she verbally gave me a "US East" record locator number which was different from the one assigned by the website. She said I will need the "East" record locator number in order to do web check-in. Really smooth! Assign a record locator number which isn't the record locator number which will work!!!
Anyway...I thought after-the-fact that I should have tried to change my US East-metal seats on-line, so if anybody attempts to change their US East-metal seats on-line, please post your findings!!!
