Other *A carriers have helped RG (LH, TP, AC), though AFAIK none of them have actually operated RG flights. But it goes to show that it is in the interest of *A to keep RG operating at a minimum level. I still don't believe this rumour, especially given the source, but it's not completely unthinkable (UA starting their own service JFK-GRU would be unthinkable).
