IMHO Diners Club has never been a card primarily about saving money. (The Restaurant Savings Program was sort of an anomaly: They took a program which most people use for accumulating miles or points from dining, and instead of "staying in character" and making it a way to earn bonus Club Rewards points from dining, they made it about savings only, probably because they used to have a completely different program which was savings only that DIDN'T have any miles or points equivalents other places.)

What Diners Club clearly is, though, is a card with its main benefits designed for travelers, and air travelers in particular (since car travelers don't need rentals cars much, and the one DC feature that saves LOTS of money for air travelers is primary collision insurance on rentals). So I'm not surprised if you don't travel by air much any more that you wouldn't find it the right card for you.
