I hadn't been able to check in online so I checked in at the counter and the agent immediately told me there was a note on my reservation and she congratulated me on achieving MVP. This was a bit of a surprise after my experience with the Customer Care line. A FT'er had PM'd me a couple of days ago and asked me when for details on when I was next flying. I wasn't sure who he was so I sent him only minimal details. I figured he was someone in Seattle who had put a note in my reservation so I asked the agent and she said the person who put the note there was the Chicago station manager. It turns out that my FlyerTalk friend was the Chicago station manager!
I met Jon down at the gate and we had a nice chat. There was no availability to upgrade me to FC but he escorted me to the Jetway door when it came time for MVPs to board. I was completely delighted by the whole experience.
I'm completely impressed at Jon's dedication to customer service. He didn't have to go this extra mile for me but he did and I am left with a warm feeling toward Jon, the Chicago staff and Alaska in general.
Jon, thank you so much! ^
hmmm - who is the mystery Jon? i am a frequent guest on AS out of ORD since i live in the loop - maybe i will get to meet him soon!
