Arriving on VS from the USA in T3/Outbound on AZ to Italy from T2

Can someone briefly describe the fastest way to do this? I believe the checked baggage will transfer.

2 US citizens traveling. Do we have to clear customs? Immigration?

Is it sane to think this could be done with a connection time of about 2 hours?
