I also posted in the earlier-referenced threads on this, but yes, the short
answer is that they are ok.
One thing that happened on my most recent flight was that the screener
asked if the "cup" (canister of 40 wet-ones) was empty in my bag. I didn't
really understand the question at the time, but I said that there wasn't
any water or liquid in the bag, and that seemed to be enough of a reply.
I guess the container looked like a water bottle on the X-ray or something?
So if you really want a guarantee that the wet-ones will go through, I guess
don't take the big canister, but you should be fine.
And yes, many of us shudder to think of long (or short!) flights without
them.
