Well then, I guess we better write our congresspeople and tell them that they need to give the fascists who run airport security monumentally more authority than they already have!

Let's have them hire taste-testers to make sure that EVERY bottle of water (and ever minibottle of liquor for that matter...) that goes onto a plane actually contains what the label says it contains. And then we'll hire TEN TIMES as many TSO's so that passengers will be comforted by knowing that every passenger has had a full strip and body cavity search at a checkpoint TWO MILES from the airport. And we'll make everyone walk those two miles to the airport, so there's no risk of a car bomb near the terminal. And we won't allow mechanics to work on planes with real tools, except in the middle of the night, and someone will have to inspect every inch of the plane to make sure the mechanics don't leave any DANGEROUS screwdrivers behind. Then we'll start printing boarding passes on small pieces of cloth, because the cardstock some airlines still use can cut skin too easily, and we wouldn't want the terrorists to have access to a weapon on the plane...

Seriously. Where do you draw the line? You'll never be able to truly "sanitize" the "entire airport." Instead, they should focus on keeping real explosives (not cigarette lighters and toothpaste) and weapons like knives and guns off the airplanes, and let the passengers and crew handle anybody who tries something on board (as passengers and crew have repeatedly shown they are capable of doing). Because I still haven't heard a valid reason why the airport itself is somehow more of a terrorist target than any other public gathering place in the country (99% of which are far less secure than the airport with the weakest security).
