upgrade with miles
If you have the miles then they will certainly take them. The rates offered for upgrades are however the same as if you do it before travellling eg UK-USA 15K miles on a Yor B 30K miles on cheaper tickets each way. The advantage of cash is that the offer varies depending on load.
