Here are some more questions:
Will LH confirm the upgrade with SWU if there is availability? Last time I flew LH was SFO-FRA-BLR and none of the upgrades cleared ahead of time. I had to wait for them at the gate for each leg. My upgrade SFO-FRA did not clear. After sitting in LH economy SFO-FRA, I swore never to fly LH economy again.
Pushing my luck further, did anyone travel to Lausanne from Geneva? How are the train connections to Lausanne?
Train to Lausanne goes from the airport station. Fairly frequent and pleasant ride. GVA is only 5 minutes drive/train ride to city centre anyways.
Lived in GVA for 9 months and travel there 1-2 times a year.
Would go via MUC or FRA. Lots of connections with LH/LX so late arriving transatlantic won't be a problem. Both airports have decent lounges to pass a few hours. LH C is fantastic but you do have to sweat it out till the gate for your SWU to clear.
