So either this is complete Kabuki, screeners think it's nonsense, screeners can't clearly visualize liquids in the Xray, or all of the above.
This happened to my s.o. yesterday in Vegas. We waited 45 mins through security for C terminal. She had a bottle of water from the casino's gym in her pocketbook and totally forgot about it. She put the bag through the xray and they said nothing. We did not realize it until we were about 40 mins from landing when she went in her bag to get a piece of gum. The funny thing is any TSA agent could have looked down into her bag and would have seen the water since it does not close very well.
Lastly, I talked to a guy while waiting in the line to board on the outbound to Vegas last week, he travels every week for business, and said the ban does not impact him since he just puts his deodarant and toothpaste in his pockets when he goes through security. Its time to end the ban, I have seen more blatant violations of the ban in the past two weeks of travel, its like "what's the point."
