Glen, first of all Amsterdam is one of the most expensive cities in Europe, when it comes to quality lodging.

Right now, the cheapest alternative at the Airport seems to be the IBIS Schiphol , www.ibishotel.com
99 Euros for a single, 111 Euros for a double, breakfast is included.

IBIS is owned by Accor und normally operates 2* properties.

When you check www.hrs.com you will find some more alternatives, starting from 150 Euros, the Mercure Schiphol.The Golden Tulip Schiphol ( **** )has a guaranteed rate of USD 129.95 on travelocity.com

The Dorint Schiphol (****)is available for 177 Euros for a double, www.dorint.com , it is normally cheaper, when you book through a german operator, but I cannot remember, which one right now.Will check that and keep you informed, if you are interested...

Beside that, the Sheraton is right next to the Terminal and the Hilton right behind the Sheraton, should fit your preferences, according to your profile...

The Hilton has a small, but nice Exec Lounge with excellent views of one main runway at Schiphol and the Concourse G.But both are pricy on weekdays, usually around 250 Euros...

There is a convient bus shuttle to the city centre as well as train, but I would recommend to stay in the airport area, however the rates around 100 USD seems to be excellent for those hotels, you mentioned !!

Ironically we will miss each other by a few hours, I will be in AMS on the same day, but only in the morning hours, connecting from Miami to Maastricht....
