Probably because technicalities made way to pragmitism. How many times can you say, "look at the AA forum"? It was done because it's reasonable (imo) for people to think of the Oneworld Forum when they are looking at a Oneworld ticket, irrespective of where they are taking out the miles and irrespective of whether they are correct in doing so. So the cost to the regulars of this forum who don't read the AA forum (like me) is to get "please help me with a Oneworld Award" "go read the AA forum", and the cost to the people needing help is that the people on this forum are, in my experience, generally more patient and understanding and know the routes of all the carriers a heck of a lot better.
No one asked, but my opinion is to leave it alone or make a few minor changes to make it alliance wide. It's not hurting anything or anyone and I see a benefit coming out of it, specifically lessening the signal to noise ratio of the group.
