PDX Airport threat, and why TSA is a joke
After working around the Portland Airport(PDX) for 2 years, there is a major safety issue that has never been addressed, and I was actually threatened by an employee that I would have my ground-transportation license pulled, if I made a case of it.
With all the hoops they make us go through, for ground transportation workers, there is still one big major flaw in the entire airport "security" scheme.
Some of the rental car agencies have their rental cars in the parking garage next to the main terminal area. The only spot where they can refuel the storage tanks, is on the south side of the garage. (Fuel for rental cars)
Every single day, for the 2 years I was there, a double trailer gasoline truck hauling THOUSANDS of gallons of gasoline, just 75' from the baggage claim area.
None of these trucks is stopped by Port Police, just to do a once over, to make sure there is not a stick of dynamite underneath them, and would be very easy to hi-jack to do the job. I wouldnt care as much, if they had a system where Port Police would inspect the truck, before driving onto Airport Way and into the airport, before its allowed in. A small explosive under one of these, would level the entire front of the airport, and probably destroy the parking garage.
They are more concerned with everyday people, in their own cars, minding their own business, and with checking ground transportation workers licenses for compliance, than to investigate a REAL threat.
This my friends, is why TSA/Homeland Security, is a complete and utter insult to every law-abiding citizen, who is just trying to get from Point A to Point B.
Those that travel in and out of Portland, this should be a major concern, yet airport officials just ignore and threaten those that actually are TRYING to make things safe. Its their way, or no way at all. Make your voice heard on this issue, or it could become a REAL issue. Port officials ignore all of us, that ARE the eyes and ears around the Portland International Airport.
They take our water away, and let 100,000 of gasoline through the terminal, EVERY day
