I'm looking to take a trip LAX-CUR the second week of January and I'm interested in booking an award ticket, but I'm 550 miles short of 30K. Is there any reliable way of getting those miles for under $57.50, the cost of purchasing 1000 miles from AA directly? Should I just go for the credit card and cancel before the anniversary? (With the latter, I'm just concerned about mileage posting while there are still awards available...)

FWIW, an economy ticket LAX-CUR for mid-Jan. is running $861, so I figure this is a good use of miles.
